The idea for this project grew out of a dispute with my landlord about the renovation and insulation of my apartment. According to the Dutch rent tribunal, a landlord is obliged to take action to lower the temperature if the home exceeds 26.5°C for more than 300 hours per year (a C-defect). So I built this project to let residents monitor and document the temperature throughout the year.
The main goal is to monitor indoor temperatures every 30 minutes, log these readings to an Excel file, and send notifications to your Telegram account. It also lets you control your Nest Thermostat from Telegram. It uses the APIs Google provides for the Nest Thermostat.
Features:
- Monitor indoor temperature and humidity every 30 minutes.
- Log values to an Excel file (a separate file per day).
- Log additional information from an outdoor weather station.
- Send notifications to your Telegram account.
- Control your Nest Thermostat from Telegram (set temperature, mode, etc.).
- Fetch current or previous values from your Nest Thermostat via Telegram.
- Analyse the temperature trend over a longer period (based on the generated Excel files).
