NextCloud is an open-source platform that lets you manage your own cloud storage. It offers the same functionality as commercial cloud services like Google Drive or Dropbox, but with full control over your data and privacy.
A few advantages of NextCloud at a glance:
- Full control over your data: Your data lives on your own server, improving privacy and security.
- Flexibility: NextCloud offers many apps and integrations to expand its functionality — file sharing, calendar, contacts, and more.
- Accessibility: Reach your files from anywhere through the web interface, desktop clients, and mobile apps.
- Collaboration: Easily share files and folders with others and collaborate on documents in real time.
- Security: Strong encryption and extensive security options to protect your data.
I run NextCloud on a Raspberry Pi (with NVMe M.2 SSD) and integrated it with my own domain. Together with the desktop and mobile apps this provides easy access and management. Thanks to Docker, installation and maintenance stay simple and efficient. It can also be installed on a cloud server, making it well-suited for SME use cases.
