Remotely is an open-source tool that makes it possible to take over different kinds of systems remotely — for example laptops. It's an excellent alternative to the well-known TeamViewer, with the added benefit of full control over your own platform.
Remotely offers several advantages over other remote desktop solutions:
- Open source and free: Remotely is free to use, both for personal and commercial purposes.
- Easy installation: The software is easy to install on the client side.
- Command-line support: You can run commands via the command line, so you don't always need to log in interactively to perform operations.
- Custom domain: Remotely can be hooked up to your own domain, providing extra control and security.
I run Remotely in a Docker container on a Linux server, hooked up to my own domain, so I can manage my devices from any browser.
